Do I need planning permission for a garden room?

This is by far the most common question.: Do I need planning permission for a garden room? In most cases, if the building meets Permitted Development rules (under 2.5 m height near boundaries, occupies less than 50% of the garden), you don’t need permission. Exceptions apply in conservation areas or if it’s intended as a living space.
